On the Road in Sicily

Also Stop 5 – Porto Empodocle

Modica was a breath of fresh air but it was time to move on.

Heading out to breakfast before taking off we find the CUTEST, Lego car EVER!

Looks like Lego no?

It’s actually a city rental car you can aquire remotely.

Sicilians take breakfast very seriously.

I could not make this up if someone asked me 👇

Not sure what you’re looking at?

Allow me to explain.

This is Brioche and Granita – pistachio this time but other flavours are available.

You have it with your cappuccino on a Sicilian sidewalk like this:

Remember all those stairs?

You need them to walk this breakfast off!

Fulfilled in ways we never new existed as far breakfast goes we hit the road.

Little mountain pocket villages along the way.

What is it like to live here?

Is everyone an artist cause this is pretty damn inspiring.

Also passed a few ruins that looked pretty impressive.

No ticket sales or line ups or selfie stick sales going on here.

Just people going to work.

Porto Empodocle

There really wasn’t any options for accommodation until Porto Empodocle.

Which as you can see below was a stretch.

We figured it would be somewhat lively being a Port town but no, not really.

The place was practically deserted when we got there that afternoon.

We found a place to stay in what looked like town square, freshened up and headed out in the evening.

Found some place to grab an appetizer and watch the kids play in the square outside the church.

Looks fancy eh?

It’s bologna and cheese wrapped up.

But Sicilian bologna and to be honest quite tasty.

This place made us happy.

An old cave turned restaurant.

Traditional food.

This also made us happy ⬇️

A sleepy little port town with some darn good food.

Also, can you imagine doing a renovation here holy cow!

We’re coming to the end of this trip.

Best is yet to come!
