Southern Italy Road Trip

Let’s explore Italy – southern Italy to be precise.

We left home with a plan in place.

Fly to Rome, train to Naples, rent a car and scoot across to the heel of the boot.

Rome is a great starting point and it’s pretty.

It’s late October and much to our surprise it’s still high season here.

Luckily we found availability at the very central Hotel Grifo. Clean, comfortable with super friendly staff.

If you have to pay the $$$ you should make sure you’re hotel has a high walkability score and everything is close by otherwise you have to tack on lost time and taxi costs.

Just make peace with it. You can’t take it with you, have some fun and make your life easier.

Look how cute this terrace is across from our 4th floor hotel rooftop.

We went to the Coliseum because you pretty much have to being in Rome and all.

We walked around for … a really long time, mostly in circles working up an appetite.

Lunch looked like this ⬇️

This kind of mid day meal will slow you down but is well worth it.

Select a restaurant away from the Coliseum. Those ones are pricey and lean heavily on the view rather than food and are better for a beverage break.

Feeling sleepy? Take a hop on hop off and view the sites while you digest your massive lunch.

Or have a nap, You will find no judgement here.

Our plan evolved in the 2 days we were here in Rome.

That’s why we don’t reserve things too far ahead or at all for that matter.

Introducing our new addition.

We drive from here on end.

Next stop monsters and castles!
