Arriving at Diamante

Diamanté, Italy

Diamanté was the town on the map we threw a dart at as our next destination on this road trip so off we went.

The drive along the coast was breathtaking.

To the left lush green mountains with hilltop villages perched on top.

To the right the sparkling blue sea.

Our heads were on swivels the whole time.

Approximately 26,000 pictures of blurry scenery have been erased from my phone. If only one photo came out of the bunch, it was worth it.

Here’s an example of our scenery that day.

Pretty sure I’ve seen a painting just like this.

In a MUSEUM!

Not going to lie, I cried in my sunglasses a few times. So very taken aback by this whole experience.

I imagine living the Italian life here in this Italian house.

When I cross the road i see this:

If I look over the edge I see this:

Am I in love with it every day or does this just turn into my life’s backdrop?

Anyways, we took our eyes off the scenery and down to the dashboard and found this:

So we drove to this:

The roads, gas stations, everything was very friendly and easy to figure out.

Ok so when we arrive in Diamanté it’s of course 1pm and the rush to find a place to eat is on.

First place we go to looks awesome and busy. Right on the water. You can smell the grill and fresh bread.

We walk in and they just say no. We see a table and they’re like ‘no, no food left’. We want to say, just make us what you have, we don’t care bu it’s a hard no.

We find another spot and hurrah they are open and have food!

Incidentally also on the water and smelling devine.

Place was hopping.

So fun fact, no one here speaks any English. Zero. It’s awesome.

Our waiter had this face on quite a few times over the course of our ordering.

Seafood does not get fresher than this.

I normally do not creep on random Nonna’s but just look at her! She’s dressed so sweet and has bright purple hair💜

Food came and wow.

We shared this platter of lobster pasta and were not disappointed.

Walking off 1/20th of that meal, we head back to our hotel.

Sunset is not far off. This is the view from our balconies.

This is the set up with our rooms adjacent.

And then it’s done.

But we’re not. The night is just beginning!

Check back in to see this incredible town in my next post.

Seriously, it’s very cool.

Don’t miss out on any part of this fun road trip through southern Italy!

  1. Ahhhh yes - that beautiful seaside hotel with the gorgeous Italian tile and interesting art everywhere! Virtually imagining myself there on this dreary, damp winter day 🙂
