Sorrento, Italy
Day 2 in Sorrento had us refreshed and invigorated thanks in part to our beautiful stay at Hotel Tasssos.

Seemingly carved out of the cliff itself, you can’t help but be impressed.
Just wait. There’s more.
The wide variety of items on the breakfast buffet was appreciated and a nice change from croissants and Nutella.

The view for breakfast – great.
Sipping coffee and watching the ferries do their thing. Ahhhh.

This hotel is old and grand. The glamour and charm, completely authentic. Nothing’s changed from the good ole days.
Our room was a hike from the elevator. Check out this time lapse!
The wallpaper and the fading wall sized mirrors only added to the ‘step back in time’ feel of this place.
And not in a ‘Shining’ movie kind of way.

Colour scheme on point. Very small room.

Oh did I mention the terrace …

How nice to have somewhere to step out to and enjoy the…

…view.

Never stayed in a room that was in line with the clouds!
At the waterfront the fisherman are kicking it old school, rowing around throwing their nets.
The grounds were magical.
It was like stepping into an old movie. An old movie where everyone dressed up even to go to the pool.
The detail to the pool area. That deck!

Randomly in the lobby is this little work of art.

Exotic fruits and flowers grow happily around the ornate iron patio sets.

Let’s go see what’s at the end of this vine covered walkway.

More of this view from a different angle. Does not get boring.

But wait, there’s more.
How do we get to the water you might ask?
We take the elevator down through the cliff of course and when it lets you out you have this…
I mean everywhere you look is classic beauty.

It was really an experience to be somewhere like this.

You can’t get this combination of sky, deck, and umbrellas anywhere else. Close maybe but not THIS.
It’s stupid, but even this bread basket was poetic against that endless sky backdrop.

This focaccia was loaded with the freshest, sweetest cherry tomatoes we’d tried thus far.
I want to paint this focaccia.

Maybe I will. Lol.
The calamari wasn’t as glamorous but it too was delicious.

I believe my battery died after all the pictures I took here so we’re just going to skip to what happened at dinner.
This stunning restaurant was recommended to us and we felt pretty lucky to get in without reservations.
Chandeliers and prosciutto …who knew they were so aesthetically complimentary to one another.

Everyday can’t be unicorns and rainbows right? May I present to you our dinner experience this particular evening.
From left to right:
- Schnitzel in soup? I added the noodle to Steve’s plate cause I felt sad taking this picture as it was.
- My mushroom noodle dish was pretty good.
- The spaghetti and meatballs was the worst of the trip.
- And the fish special although good left much to be desired in the plating department. Would some parsley sprinkled be crazy guys? Seriously.

While we were enduring our food, to the left of us, this beautiful love story was going on complete with saxophone player.

They were from the US and got married earlier in the day and decided to go for their wedding dinner here.
No wedding party. Just them. ❤️
Here at our table was this reality check, thank you lonely noodle.

On the brighter side this salad was good.

To the right of us there was a salt baked sea bass being prepared for a table of excited guests. This cracking open and flirting is always cool to watch.

Sorrento is a place everyone should visit being a work of art in itself.
The rollercoaster of delight and dismay mirrors the chandeliers and ham as the good and not great congregate here.
For us, one visit will be enough.
